8-Hour Security Guard Training

This course is required by New York State as the first step in obtaining a security guard registration card from the New York State Department of State. It provides the student with a general overview of the duties and responsibilities of a security guard. Topics covered in this course include: Role of a security guard Legal powers and limitations Emergency situations Communications and public relations Access control Ethics and conduct All participants must be 18 years old or above and pass a written examination at the conclusion of class with a grade of at least 70%. The test covers material presented in class and is in a true/false and multiple-choice format. Names of those who successfully complete the course and exam are recorded with the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services Security Guard Program. Students must bring a black or blue ink pen to class as well as a valid photo ID card.
