About this course

Lead disaster preparedness, response, and recovery in this Emergency Management microcredential where you will gain valuable knowledge in the distinct phases of emergency management science. First, you will learn about the theory and practice of emergency coordination such as hazard and vulnerability assessments, emergency operations planning, strategic mitigation strategies and resource management. Then you will focus on proactive measures to safeguard lives and assets from natural or man-made disasters and develop a comprehensive emergency management plan. Finally, through case study analysis, you will assess short and long-term recovery strategies and community and organizational resilience for future disasters. The microcredential is intended for working professionals new to the emergency management field seeking to add specialized skills as well as those in civic or other positions where they will have a role in emergency management response. Successful completion of this microcredential prepares you for continued study, adds specialized skills for existing professionals, and can prepare those taking on emergency management responsibilities.
